Make a Chic Desk from Reclaimed Vintage Furniture * Secret Compartment * Trash to Treasure
I’ll Show How I Made a Desk or Entry Table from recycled vintage furniture pieces… The DON’T BLINK or you’ll miss something Cut…
I combined several pieces of old furniture to make this nice looking desk. The first thing I did to the top was match the radius that was on the 100 year old piece. I then wrapped the edges with hardwood moulding. I wanted this piece taller than the legs were. To accomplish this I used simple 2×4 material & made a skirt around the edges the legs could mount to, this created the clearances needed if one were to use this as a desk……. I made a hidden drawer with secret compartment for cash or jewelry.
The center detail is an antique carving from a 100 year old unsalvageable table, the queen ann legs were saved from an old dining room table & the top itself came from a leaf off a different table….
This was going to be finished in a rustic shabby chic look but I felt the chic look was a better fit due to the queen ann leg style. Im not a big fan of queen ann shabby chic. I think it came out okay for a quick build…….
